How does the project work?
Three simple steps turn surplus food into a dignified meal.
Leave clean surplus food
Wrap the extra food from your home and place it in the nearest Save Food fridge beside the mosque.
Safe storage
Equipped fridges carrying the health requirements, under the direct supervision of Fujairah Municipality.

Everyone benefits with dignity, regardless of nationality or religion.
The story of the project
The Save Food project began twenty years ago in the Emirate of Fujairah, born of an enlightened idea and the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah. Fujairah Charity Association has run it since 2004 as an innovative humanitarian response to reduce food waste and bring goodness to those who deserve it.
The project aims to spread a culture of moderation and of saving surplus food at home, to educate young generations, and to raise awareness among families and encourage them to keep surplus food and offer it to people in need through the Save Food fridges.
This success is more than numbers: it is a true reflection of the spirit of solidarity and of the commitment to serving the community and reducing waste.
"Save Food" is not just a project but a continuing message of giving and of preserving our blessings. With every meal served, we come closer to a close-knit community guided by the values of cooperation... because goodness brings us together.

Work began at mosques in Fujairah and Dibba, with a fridge and a water cooler at each site, placed against the outer wall of the mosque.

8 million meals had reached people in need since the project was founded.

More than 88 locations and 161 fridges and water coolers, under the direction of His Excellency Saeed Al Raqbani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in partnership with institutions and benefactors.
